----Tom and Val Zicko, Wine and Roses
"I just have to stay that your Guide is absolutely the best cruising
guide to Maine, and adds a whole dimension to cruising in Maine
that one could not obtain elsewhere. We have made two two-week
trips to Maine in the last three years from our home port in Jamestown,
Rhode Island, with the two children and my wife aboard, and as
we approach the next port of call and want to refresh the details
of the approach, I just say to the kids, "Would you please hand
up the Bible" and they know just which book I mean, even though
we have all the other Maine cruising guides too. I just discovered
your website. Please try to keep it up, it is very informative."
----Steve McInnis
"I don't know what we'd do without it! Thank you for writing this
book."
----Donald Skeffington, Anaconda
"We're cruisng now using your book. Terrific!"
----Susan Richmann, Blue
"A Cruising Guide" is the best--I wouldn't leave home without
it.
----Steve Waruick. The Griswold
"It stands out like Monhegan Island Light in a smoky sou'wester.
If ever there was a place where sailors need an indispensable
cruising guide, it is the fascinating 3,500-mile coast of Maine.
This book is delightful reading, often more like a good Downeast
yarn than a guide. You will want to set sail immediately." Sailing
We love your guide and thank you and the Tafts for making the
boating waters of Maine so comfortable, even if the bottom is
so hard.
----Randy Phelps, Redfeather or Catspaw
You bet we use the Guide - it's the greatest publication there
is. Thanks again for a great job.
----Al & Claudia Ryan
A beautiful, well-written, indispensible part of my ship's library.
Keep up the good work!
----David Conley, Indra
"Enticing, readable, and easy to use. It gives away almost all
the gunkholing secrets from Pepperell Cove to Calais." Wooden Boat
By "the book," I mean Hank and Jan Taft's "A Cruising Guide to
the Maine Coast," recently updated and revised by Curtis Rindlaub.
Don't even attempt a cruise here without it. We use it like a
bible.
-----Joel Gleason, Points East, June 1999
The markers looked like they were placed incorrectly in the channel,
but the cruising guide reassured us that we would discover that
they were corrctly placed when we got closer. Once past the buoys,
we followed the written directions and headed toward a cottaage
with three dormers. When we were within a 100 yards of shore,
we turned to starboard and headed throuh the long channel. We
moored at the Spar Shed Marina and were greeted by the owner.
"How did you get in here?" he asked....
----Peg Willauer-Tobey, Points East, June 1999
I would never sail without your guide. The new edition is bigger
and better.
----John A. Nelson, Damsel
I am a longtime devotee of "Duncan" who first used your guide
last September enroute from Christmas Cove to Southwest Harbor.
I'm sold.
----Jack St. John, Figment
Really like the new edition. Indispensable!
----William Sweeney, Ariadne
Helpful directions, especially the confusing topic of the Reversing
Falls at Saint John. The clearest written explaination of that
phenomenon that I've read yet.
----Paul Monfredo, Sigi
This guide has enhanced our trip Down East. I only widh I had
purchased it sooner. Thank you for producing such a concise guide.
It's the best of its class.
----Rob Baker, Imagine
"Well organized, well researched, and eminently readable. This
is a book I could read all winter when the boat is stored away."
Maine Times
Great book! This is our second edition and we use it faithfully
while cruising the coast.
----Frank Lingard, Jr., Second Wind
By far the best guide to Maine!
----John Drozdal, Ariana
I used "A Cruising Guide to the Maine Coast" to great advantage
while transporting my lobsterboat "Relentless" from Plymouth,
MA to Frenchmans Bay. Arriving at Isle au Haut Thororfare just
after sunset in mid-September, I was pleased to locate a rental
mooring described by the "Guide." Although I had visited the Thorofare
at least ten times before, I wouldn't have known about the mooring
without the help of the "Guide."
----David Dennison, Relentless
We like your updates--new harbor charts, etc.. Thank you for continuing
in such a superb fashion the wonderful work done by the Tafts.
----Dottie and John Farrar, Patience
Love the guide!
----Jon Steiner, Circe
Your sketch charts are most valuable!
----Darrell Street, Waxwing
I'm a long-time Casco Bay user/explorer. Good updated reference. I read it straight through. Couldn't put it down!
----Richard Engel, Staghound
I love your cruising guide. It's the best one out there, except, perhaps, your small-boat guide to Casco Bay!
----Stephen McManus, Sapphire
Wonderful Guide.
----Scott Houser, Morning Glory
This book is the Bible for anyone going ot Maine.
----Fred Bauer, Tootsie
