NEAR the eastern end of Eggemoggin Reach, north of the Torrey Islands, Center Harbor is an idyllic little place full of boats, with room for just one boatyard and a yacht club. The harbor is bounded on the south by Chatto Island and its rock ledges. A fleet of lovely gaff-rigged Beetle Cats is moored just inside the entrance. Astoundingly beautiful bigger boats are moored deeper in the small harborone of the most concentrated pockets of classic yachts on the coast.

Anchorages, Moorings. You can anchor outside the moored boats in about 16 feet at low, but there is not apt to be room to anchor inside the harbor. The Center Harbor Yacht Club has a mooring for overnight visitors, and the Brooklin Boatyard has a few moorings that may be available for rental. Protection in the harbor is good except from the northwest.

Its .7 mile to the post office and the Brooklin General Store, which in addition to a reasonable selection of groceries carries The New York Times and exchanges propane canisters.
